Just returned from a weekend camping trip with – count ’em – 19 dogs and 22 people in Laguna Mountains in the Cleveland National Forest in San Diego County. My dogs, Chipper and Cleo joined me in this 2nd annual weekend outing hosted by Dawn Celapino, founder of www.LeashYourFitness.com. We hiked, ate grrr-eat meals and reveled in the antics of our canine campers, who ranged in size from Bear, a Chihuahua mix to Ginger, a super sweet Pit Bull. The temps by day were 70s, but the temps by night plummeted to the 40s. Little Cleo snuggled inside my sleeping bag and Chipper, my Golden Retriever-Husky mix, sported a sweater and snoozed on a warm blanket inside our tent.
We came prepared — with treats, water, spare leashes, first aid kits. We left contented. It is so nice to see our dogs, happy to be off leashes and able to check out nature freely. Do you have a favorite camping trip to share? Please post! We’re looking for grr-eat tips and photos.
